Povzetek

Naravna pitna voda je nenadomestljiva dobrina. Človeško telo lahko preživi brez hrane več tednov, brez pitne vode pa le nekaj dni. Čeprav je pitna voda brez kalorij, je osnovno živilo in temelj prehranske varnosti ter s tem tudi temelj ekonomskega razvoja, zdravja ljudi ter čistega okolja. Združeni narodi so na podlagi projekcij podnebnih sprememb izpostavili oskrbo prebivalstva s pitno vodo kot enega največjih izzivov prihodnosti. Ohranjanje količin in kakovosti podzemne vode kot najpomembnejšega vira pitne vode bo imelo pri tem pomembno vlogo. V prispevku bomo obrazložili, kje se podzemna voda v Sloveniji nahaja, kakšne količine podzemne vode so na razpolago in kako jo formalno varujemo. Odgovorili bomo tudi na vprašanje, kateri so (bili) glavni viri obremenjevanja ter opozorili na danes še neobvladovane nevarnosti, ki pretijo kakovosti podzemne vode v prihodnje.

Abstract

Groundwater – Main (or Virtually Only) Source of Drinking Water in Slovenia

Natural drinking water is an irreplaceable good. The human body can survive without food for several weeks, but only a few days without drinking water. Even though drinking water is calorie-free, it is a basic foodstuff and the foundation of a safe diet, and consequently the foundation of economic development, people’s health and a cleaner environment. Based on climate change projections, the United Nations highlighted the supply of drinking water to the population as one of the greatest challenges of the future. Preservation of the quantity and quality of groundwater as the most important source of drinking water will play a vital role in that. This paper will explain the locations of groundwater in Slovenia, the quantities of groundwater available, and how it is formally protected. It will also answer the question as to which are (were) the main sources of pollution, and point out the as yet still unchecked threats to the future quality of groundwater.
