Povzetek

V prispevku podajamo pogled na besedno zvezo trajnostni razvoj in na resnično vsebino tega. V medijih se pogosto uporablja trajnostni razvoj kot odrešitev planeta Zemlje pred podnebnimi spremembami, v resnici pa je ta besedna zveza stara že več kot 30 let in se v praksi ni udejanjala. Zakaj ne, kje so problemi in v čem je izvorna napaka definicije trajnostnega razvoja, je pojasnjeno z metodo analize besedil v tem prispevku. Definiran je izraz trajnostnost, ki vsebuje komponente povezanosti z naravo, ponovne rabe, odgovornega odnosa do naravnih virov, povezovanje ljudi in vzpostavljanje blaginje življenja za vse. V tem se razlikujeta koncepta trajnostnega razvoja, ki še vedno temelji na količinski rasti (premica navzgor), in trajnostnosti, ki uvaja zmanjševanje človekovih vplivov v okolje (krog). Odpira se tudi vprašanje, kako naprej, kje so rešitve. Kot kaže, se svet opira na strateške dokumente in načrte do leta 2050, kar pa je odločno prepozno za ukrepanje. Ker je prava rešitev v konkretnih spremembah, naj vodstveni delavci začno te uvajati takoj kot način življenja.

Abstract

What is needed is sustainable living, not sustainable development

In this article, the phrase sustainable development and what it really entails is explored. The media often presents sustainable development as a solution to current climate change on planet Earth, but in reality, this phrase is more than 30 years old but has not been implemented in practice. Using the method of text analysis, this article provides an explanation as to the reasons why not, where issues are and how the definition of sustainable development is originally incorrect. The definition of sustainability contains the elements of connection with nature, re-use, responsible use of natural resources, connecting people and providing prosperity for all. This is the difference between the concept of sustainable development, which is still based on quantitative growth (upward curve), and sustainability, which introduces the reduction of human impact on the environment (circle). A question arises of how to proceed and what the solutions are. Apparently, the world is relying on strategic documents and plans until 2050, which is decidedly too late for action. Since the real solution lies in concrete changes, the leadership staff should start introducing change immediately as a way of life.
