Učitelji igramo pomembno vlogo v življenju osnovnošolcev. Na razvoj mladoletnikov vplivamo s svojim zgledom in razmišljanjem. Pri poučevanju družboslovnih predmetov je ta vpliv opazno večji, saj učni načrt dopušča aktualizacijo in kritičen pogled na družbo. Uporaba knjige pri pouku omogoča še več: učence navdušujemo za branje, krepimo njihovo besedišče in razvijamo bralno pismenost, razvijamo njihovo kritičnost in sposobnost vživljanja v počutje druge osebe. Čas, ki ga pri pouku namenimo tovrstnim aktivnostim, je dobro izkoriščen, saj nam mora biti v interesu, da vzgajamo posameznike, ki bodo prispevali k oblikovanju še boljše družbe.

Abstract

The Impact of Reading on the Development of Empathy in Pupils

Teachers play a vital role in the lives of primary school pupils. We influence the development of adolescents by example and by our way of thinking. This influence is much greater when teaching social science subjects, as the curriculum allows for modernization and a critical view of society. Using a book during lessons enables much more: we make pupils enthusiastic about reading; we improve their vocabulary and develop reading literacy; we develop their critical thinking skills and their ability to put themselves in other people’s shoes. The time devoted to such activities during lessons is well spent; it should be in our interest to educate individuals who will help to shape an even better society.
