Izvleček
Zveza društev gluhih in naglušnih Slovenije že vrsto let izvaja posebni socialni program Razvoj slovenskega znakovnega jezika in usposabljanje. Distribucija poteka prek spletne strani Zveze društev gluhih in naglušnih Slovenije.
Abstract
Slovenian Sign Language and Its Usage
For many years now, the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Clubs Association of Slovenia has been implementing a special social programme called “Razvoj slovenskega znakovnega jezika in usposabljanje/Development of Slovenian Sign Language and Training”. Operating under this programme is the Centre for the Development of Slovenian Sign Language, whose main purpose and goal is to standardise Slovenian sign language. New areas of vocabulary/gestures are being developed and have not yet been researched. Deaf people’s vocabulary must be expanded, and the cultural and historical awareness of language must be strengthened. Besides researching the vocabulary, we should also research language itself from the aspect of various linguistic elements. Through cooperation with relevant experts – linguists, writers of dictionaries, collaborators on the development of the vocabulary of individual fields, and professional staff for the development of software – we can work on language, which is a prerequisite for the deaf to communicate and for preserving the cultural identity of the deaf community within society. The Centre for the Development of Slovenian Sign Language has gathered in one place the language resources, tools and didactic aids relating to Slovenian sign language. All of the above-mentioned elements are publicly accessible in physical or electronic form and are being regularly complemented and evaluated. They are distributed via the website of the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Clubs Association of Slovenia.
