Abstract

Mental health and mental health problems in education – the role of managers and implications for mental health promotion activities

In recent discussions, the mental health and well-being of individuals in various (work) settings have gained significant attention. Increasing emphasis is being placed on the mental health of individuals involved in educational programs, particularly children and adolescents, while the mental health of professionals and managers is less frequently addressed. Additionally, there is limited research on the relationship between mental health beliefs and the activities performed based on these beliefs and internal culture. Within organisational settings, managers play a crucial role in this area, a fact that is also somewhat evident in educational settings. The present paper aims to explore these issues within the context of the scientific literature and to highlight best practices in different work environments that can assist educational institutions in addressing the mental health of all participants. The paper also provides recommendations for various stakeholder groups, encouraging the implementation of holistic, sustainable, and supportive activities that can contribute to the long-term well-being of society as a whole.
